Renaldo is a digital platform for building renovation projects that brings together homeowners, renovation professionals, and financing partners in one place. With AI-powered tools like instant cost estimates and subsidy checks (BAFA, KfW) to automated tender analysis and invoice verification, Renaldo makes the complex renovation process plannable and transparent for everyone involved. The Hamburg-based platform integrates with industry-standard tools and is fully GDPR-compliant, hosted in Germany.
Decarbonizing Germany's ageing building stock is one of the most critical levers for reaching climate targets – yet the renovation process has remained chaotic, opaque, and frustrating for all stakeholders. Renaldo's founding team has built a product that genuinely simplifies the entire journey from planning to completion. The combination of a massive, underserved market, clear climate relevance, and a multi-sided platform that creates real value for homeowners, professionals, and banks simultaneously made Renaldo a compelling investment for us.
renaldo is on a mission to decarbonize the existing building stock—one home at a time, without the paperwork and confusion that stops most owners before they start.
Gregor: Renaldo is the software and decision layer that makes building renovation in Germany simpler, faster and more cost-secure — by thinking every project "from the end," so cost certainty comes right from the start.
Gregor: We want to help thousands of homeowners and renovation professionals run more successful renovations — and through faster energy efficiency and the switch to climate-friendly heating, make a real contribution against climate change. Renovation in Germany has to become quicker, fairer and more transparent, and that only works when owners, professionals and financiers finally speak the same language.
Gregor: My co-founder Ronald Meyer and I first met back in 2019 at ecoworks. In October 2023, a LinkedIn post of Ronald's about his "Sanierungssprint" in Hamburg got me to pick up the phone — a planned quick call turned into an hour, and just before Christmas, on 21 December 2023, we founded Renaldo. We deliberately started hands-on: in 2024 we ran three renovation sprints ourselves as general contractor before turning into a digital planning office in 2025 and then turning all of that experience into a tool.
Gregor: The hardest part of renovation is cost uncertainty, so we refused to build features that merely impress and instead built around one truth: every craftsman's invoice is ultimately quantity × unit price × service. This was the data we needed. We tackled it by first renovating ourselves, gaining all the required data that builds the core of Renaldo today. The current challenge now is getting Renaldo known among as many target group players as possible.
Gregor: These have been personal and strategic differences with my co-founders before Renaldo at Zolar and ecoworks. There were some tough times. At Renaldo, the (co-)founder setup has been a real blessing to me, so challenges here have been on finding the right scalable business model and always adapting to it. I guess I am, in fact, about to face my next biggest challenge which is now turning from an honest, realistic tech guy into a sales and marketing person trying to make Renaldo known and popular in the industry.
Gregor: Besides the money invested that has helped to finance our development, the team of PiC has a wonderful founder focused attitude that fits well with our own entrepreneurial views and approaches. Personal exhanges have always been very constructive, helpful and especially motivating.
Gregor: The open and honest talks and again, the entrepreneurial view on getting things done and not making them overly complicated.
