Nuno Labs builds hardware-based forecasting for the solar age. Its in-house Sensor Hubs – 360-degree all-sky cameras installed at solar parks – capture hyper-local cloud imagery directly from the ground, which an AI vision model fuses with satellite data to predict PV output minutes to hours ahead. This gives the direct marketers who trade solar power far sharper short-term forecasts than satellite-only models can offer.
Solar power swings the moment clouds move, and the marketers who sell that power get penalised when their forecasts miss – a costly, growing problem as Germany's grid fills with PV. Nuno Labs attacks it with something rivals can't easily copy: a fleet of low-cost ground cameras that see local clouds forming before satellites can, while building a valuable data pool. The three second-time founders from TU Munich, Cambridge and Stanford are a great fit for the challenge.
